The Gallery of Fluid Motion consists of posters and videos submitted by attendees illustrating the science — and very often also the beauty — of fluid motion. Both computational and experimental entries are encouraged. Poster and video entries must not duplicate one another.
All Gallery of Fluid Motion (GFM) submissions are handled through the GFM website, gfm.aps.org. GFM Posters and Video Submission entries (titles and author information) must be made prior to September 15, 2017. The submission website will open mid-June.
Videos must be uploaded to the website by Oct 6, 2017.
GFM Poster: Bring to meeting.
A panel will select outstanding entries based on artistic value, scientific content, and originality. The winning entries will be published as a special supplement to Physical Review Fluids. The top three winners in each category will be presented the Milton van Dyke Award – consisting of a small monetary prize; a copy of the Album of Fluid Motion; and an award certificate.
The contributions will be displayed in the Mile High Ballroom of the Denver Convention Center. The award-winning entries will be announced on Monday, 20 November during the refreshment break.
You can view the 2016 and earlier GFM winning entries (posters and videos) and the 2017 GFM videos once they have been uploaded at the GFM website.
POSTER SET – UP – Please bring your poster to the Meeting. You will be able to hang it between 1:00 pm and 9:00 pm on Saturday evening, November 18 or between 6:30 am and 9:00 am on Sunday, November 19 in the Mile High Ballroom of the Denver Convention Center.
There will be a central information and supply table with pushpins and velcro in the Ballroom. (If you need anything else to mount your poster, you need to bring it.) Please confirm you are putting your poster in the correct location for the GFM Posters and not in the Technical Poster Section.
Your poster has a number which will be up on the board. You can find out your number in the program which will be at the information desk. Put your poster in the right place and remember you have a little less than one-half of an 8-foot long x 4-foot high poster board, i.e., 45″ x 45″, available for mounting. Do not let your poster spread into someone else’s space.
VIDEO AND POSTER PRIZE PRESENTATION – Poster authors must be by their board during the Refreshment Break on Monday, November 20th. Exact time will be posted when the program is set. Prize winners will be announced at this time.
POSTER REMOVAL – Presenters must take down their posters by 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 21. Any posters left after 15:00 will be discarded.
